‘Paternal Romance’ (Essays on Paternity) ::: working document

The original ‘Paternal Romance’ was painted over a decade ago during a tenure in a humble Fort Collins, Colorado house basement. It happened in about 30 seconds.
Deeply personal and archetypal, the Paternal Romance incorporates much that I use artistically: narrative, color, expression, spontaneity, meaning.
The title is borrowed from a literary exposition on God-The-Father in Western Culture. This piece adds to a creative treatise I continue to develop. (Essays to follow)
Suzanne and I went to the same nursery school and circled each other through our adolescent years. We reunited in 2016 at the ‘Paternal Romance Editions’ opening at GLE @ Mana Contemporary.
Several years later our daughter was born.
